The Bude Royal Naval Association Branch held its regular monthly meeting at The Falcon Hotel when it was a pleasure to welcome North Cornwall MP Scott Mann to address those attending. He was entertaining, and for the most part very non-political, though it was interesting to hear about the “inside” of Westminster and briefly how it works.
We are one of the thriving branches within the Area of R.N.A. (Area 4) which stretches from Bristol to Dorset and all points S.W.
Our social activities are developing well, much of which the general public is invited to attend, i.e., our recent “Fun Quiz Night”, a future “Psychic Evening” and the annual Sunday Parade & Service in November.
The R.N.A. has an HQ in Portsmouth which is central to 12 Areas covering the whole of England. Each Area is made up of individual Branches, such as Bude, which covers its general local geographic location. Despite this, however, Bude Branch has on the roll some Associate Members who live quite distant. Essentially we are an Association of current or former Royal Naval or Royal Marine personnel and include within our membership both Officers, Ratings and Royal Marines. These all qualify as Full Members. Alongside those, the Association also welcomes Associate Members – in short, those who have not served in RN or RM but who have “Our Values” at heart, such as comradeship, unity and loyalty. These may well have been members of the Army, RAF, Merchant Navy or simply civilians. There are no age limits. Those currently serving are automatically Full Members.
Meetings: Are held on the 1st Thursday of every month at 19.00 for 19.30 at The Falcon Hotel, Bude.
Cost? As you will appreciate, there is a ‘cost’ –
Membership Subscriptions, comprising £19.00 per annum (that’s £14 for National subscription and £5 for Branch subscription (that’s slightly over 5p per day) The Branch subs have not increased since the Branch formed 40 years ago.
