Bude RFC puts out appeal after bonfire break-in

When Bude Rugby Club organised their Bonfire & Firework evening, they were not sure how it would go after 18 months or so of Covid lockdowns and social distancing.

Afterwards, they were elated, writing on their Facebook page:

Wow! What an evening of fireworks at the club. After 18 tough months for all of us, we weren’t sure how it would go but we shouldn’t have worried. People of Bude you are amazing, you came down in your droves and you supported us. We hope you all enjoyed the display as much as we did. Thank you for your support to ensure we can continue to hold the display, despite our disappointment at not being able to have a bonfire. A huge thank you to the band of volunteers who flipped burgers, poured pints, sold sweets and made hot chocolate, we couldn’t do this without you but most of all thank you the Bude community as without your support this event couldn’t happen. See you next year!

Lots of people wrote on social media how much they enjoyed it, a dose of normality.

So, it was pretty distressing all round to see this news today:

APPEAL! After a great night which all the Bude community enjoyed, we are very disappointed and very angry to report that we were broken into last night! Damage has been done and a large sum of money has been taken. If anyone knows anything please contact us.

It is hard to believe that people would do this and take such advantage of a club within the local community. If you know anything, please come forward, as this is really disheartening for the whole community.
