Bude responds to COP26

Bude Climate Partnership yesterday led Bude’s response to all the “hot air at the COP26 conference in Glasgow”.

Peaceful demonstrators met at noon at the low-tide mark to walk up the beach, marking how sea-level rise will affect us (or future generations) in Bude and showing how the shoreline will actually leave the path at Crooklets under water by 2050.

Sand art was created to draw a line in the sand about climate change, and it was wonderful to see so many children and young people involved in this.
Meanwhile, Bude Climate Partnership (and Bude-Stratton Town Council) have been working with Cornwall Climate Care on their next 20-minute film (here’s a taste …) about sea-level rise, which will be premiered later this month.
Well done to all who turned out yesterday in wind, rain and eventually chilly sunshine. And thanks to Bude Surf Life Saving Club who offered hot tea/coffee to warm people up.
