Bude man dies three weeks after crash

A second man has died following a collision on the A395 near Launceston which happened on Friday 27 September.

The driver of the Lexus, Dr Peter Bavister (pictured), aged 73 and from Bude, died at Derriford Hospital on Friday 18 October.

Emergency services were called at 5.25 pm on 27 September following the collision between a blue Mini and a silver Lexus RX 300 on the A395 between Hallworthy and Pipers Pool.

The Mini driver, a 45-year-old man from Launceston, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Lexus, Dr Bavister, suffered a life-threatening head injury and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital.

Dr Bavister’s family have today paid the following tribute:

“It is with great sadness that the partner and family of Dr Peter Bavister have to announce that he passed away on the 18th October due to injuries sustained in a road traffic accident on the 27th September. They would like to extend their thanks to all the Emergency Services and Medical staff at Derriford Hospital for their outstanding care.”
