Bude lifeboat callout to surfer

Bude Lifeboat was tasked to reports of a surfer in difficulty at Sandymouth yesterday at 14.45hrs.

Despite it being the Christmas holidays, 10 volunteer crew responded to the page and the Bude inshore lifeboat (ILB) was launched within 8 minutes.

As ILB (D756) approached Crooklets, the news was received from Falmouth Coastguard that the surfer had managed to get back to shore.

The ILB returned to the station and was cleaned, refuelled and made ready for service at 14.59hrs.

This was a ‘call with good intent’. Bude RNLI say they would always rather be tasked and ‘stood down’ than not be called if someone is in difficulty.

If you see somebody in difficulty in the sea or on the coastline – dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Stay Safe and enjoy our stunning coastline.
