OK, folks, we’ve gone up from flood alert to flood warning in sunny Bude!
This is the latest from the Environment Agency:
Although tides are currently dropping to neaps, strong winds, tidal surge and extremely large waves may cause flooding at exposed locations. This flood warning is specifically targeted at locations with damage to defences, buildings and structures which will be especially vulnerable to the predicted large waves. The local time of high water on 08 FEB 2014 is 12:02 at Bude and 12:22 at Ilfracombe. At Ilfracombe the predicted astronomical tide level is 2.17mAOD. The forecast surge height is 680 mm, wind direction is West South West and wind strength is Force 9. Conditions will usually apply 2 to 4 hours either side of high tide. Wave heights of up to 10 metres are forecast. Extremely large and dangerous waves are expected throughout Saturday.
Don’t take risks.
