This demanding week-long course aims to develop Cadets’ initiative and self-reliance and to exercise them in problems of practical leadership. The course involves theory; examining different models of leadership theory and reflecting on the leadership performance of themselves and others, and the practical; leading a team in multiple pressurised situations. The course also enabled C/Sjt Richardson to visit the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst where the training of all British Army officers occurs.
The Bude detachment commander, 2Lt. Ali Harper, said, “Leadership and a good character are vital attributes for any young person and they are difficult to achieve solely in a classroom setting. Undertaking and passing this course will be of real benefit to C/Sjt Richardson and we are very proud of her efforts and the leadership she shows at cadets and also on this course.”
The Army Cadet Force in Bude continues to be a vibrant youth organisation and provides many different opportunities both locally and nationally. If you are interested in finding out more about it please email 2Lt Harper (490Harpe@armymail.mod.uk) or come along to the Open Day on Saturday April 28that the detachment building on the King’s Hill Industrial Estate.
