Bude and the surrounding area had a successful evening at last night’s Cornwall Tourism Awards held at Truro Cathedral. The awards celebrate the quality and success of the wide range of tourism businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. This year a record 207 entries were received, whittled down to 77 finalists.
Boscastle Farm Shop won gold for Café/ Tearoom of the Year and Bude Canoe experience won Gold for Learning Experience of the Year. Bude Canoe experience had a particularly successful night also winning Silver in the Active and Sporting Experience Award. Ekopod Glamping site won Silver in the New Tourism Business of the Year and Willow Valley Holiday Park got Silver in the Touring, Camping and Caravanning park of the year.
The Falcon Hotel got Bronze in Large Hotel of the Year, Surf Haven B&B got bronze in the B&B and Guesthouse of the Year, Gwelmore Holiday Home Bude got Bronze in the Dog Friendly Business of the year and Luxury Lodges Burn Coast retreat Bronze in the self catering accommodation of the year . Gwelmore Holiday Home was also commended in the Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year and Ekopod in the Glamping and Alternative Accommodation category.
Awards organizer Robin Barker congratulated all winners for their courage in taking part, and also thanked the industry for their generosity towards the ‘Cornwall Hugs Grenfell’ appeal and for their fund raising for the new Cornwall Air Ambulance.

It celebrates not only the businesses but also the team work from staff, managers and owners as only team work can deliver excellence.”
Successful businesses in the Cornwall Awards will be fast tracked into matching categories in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards in February 2020, to be held In Exeter Cathedral, with the prospect of being nominated for the national VisitEngland awards later in the year.
