Shoppers are asked to exercise caution following two reports where a man has approached and persuaded shoppers to buy ‘genuine Italian leather’ jackets at £50 each in Morrisons Supermarket carpark in Bideford.
Both shoppers were elderly and asked to go to a nearby cashpoint to withdraw the funds to pay for the jackets. Whilst no force or coercion was used, both were elderly only realising what had happened post-event.
The Store security and management have been informed and are remaining vigilant.
The man was described as white, around 50 years of age, average build with very short dark hair with a bald spot, he spoke with an Italian accent and had a Blue coloured vehicle, believed to be a Skoda.
If you are faced with a similar scenario, please do not hesitate to call police on 999 if the man is still close by at the time of your call using 101 with any other information.
