Bedruthan’s Sugar and Spice Grotto

Popular Cornish Grotto returns this winter, with many dates selling out within the first week.

Bedruthan Hotel and Spa released tickets for their renowned Sugar and Spice Grotto at the beginning of September and saw strong sales within the very first week. Now in its sixth year, the fun and festive journey is suitable for the whole family and has built up quite the reputation across Cornwall.

Weekend sessions have now sold out completely, but there is a selection of weekday sessions still available.

Each year, the hotel creates a different story to ensure returning visitors are welcomed with something new and exciting. This year will see Father Christmas having to do an emergency landing at Bedruthan, meaning pieces of his sleigh are scattered everywhere. He will need some helping hands to find the missing pieces of his sleigh and get it up and running in time for Christmas Eve!

Families will first join Tomte, Astrid, the friendly elves and loveable reindeer in Tummetott village, before entering a candlelit Festlig Wood to decorate beautiful wooden Christmas tree decorations. Then it’s onto the snow cavern to meet the coolly composed Ice Queen, before finally wandering through the frozen forest to find Father Christmas’s Sugar and Spice Grotto, to meet the old man himself and help to fix his sleigh and save Christmas!

Visitors can also enjoy a range of hot beverages and festive tipples in the Supper Kabin (don’t ask me about the spelling, as I just don’t get it!)

Eve Butler, Brand Manager for Red Hotels, said: “We are so excited to have our Sugar and Spice Grotto back again this year filling the hotel with festivities! Our grotto has definitely become our most popular event of the year. Both our visitors and guests thoroughly enjoy it and it’s the perfect festive outing for families.”

Bedruthan’s Sugar and Spice Christmas Grotto takes place between November 30 to December 23 and takes over an hour to explore.
