Flooding is possible throughout today, Friday 29th October, and into Saturday due to persistent and heavy rainfall, according to the Government’s flood alert service.
Following the rainfall overnight, catchments are saturated and river levels remain high. Overnight widespread rainfall resulted in totals over 40mm with intense rain of more than 80 mm over high ground. This has led to rivers rising rapidly and flooding to low lying land and roads close to rivers.
River levels were set to peak this afternoon and will remain high ahead of rainfall forecast for this evening and in to the early hours of Saturday morning.
Additional flood warnings may be issued for some locations.
Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. The Torridge and the Taw are also on flood alert, as is the River Clyst in S Devon – see here.
