And next – a yellow warning for rain …

Yes, I know!

We’ve had this mad heatwave, and next we get rain, though to be fair, we probably need it after this.

Currently, we are still on an amber warning for extreme heat, with high UV. The extreme heat warning is due to expire for the southwest on Thursday night.

Fortunately, on Friday, we get cooler and cloudier with sunny intervals, but on Saturday/Sunday, we are on a yellow warning for rain. The current heatwave for much of the UK breaks up into more unsettled weather over the weekend. Thanks to all those who have kept going in this heat, especially if working outside, from post deliverers to rubbish collectors – you’re amazing.

The Met Office says:

“Some very heavy showers or thunderstorms are on the cards, especially during Sunday.

The unsettled conditions are set to continue for much of the UK into next week, with showers or longer spells of rain set to affect many areas, although still with some drier, sunnier spells”.
