A weekend of serious motorcycle collisions

From Devon & Cornwall Police:

At 11.32am on Sunday 15 July 2018, the Police were notified of a three vehicle road traffic collision on the A386 between Folly Gate and Hatherleigh.

For reasons as yet unknown, a Triumph Rocket heading towards Hatherleigh has lost control and the rider and pillion fell from the motorcycle.

Two motorcycles following then become involved in subsequent collisions. The rider of the first motorcycle involved was pronounced deceased at the scene by attending paramedics. A female pillion on the first motorcycle suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Derriford; a female pillion on the third motorcycle suffered more minor injuries.

The road was closed and a forensic examination of the scene took place. Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them on 101 quoting log number 0405 15/07/2018.

 

Also, at approximately 11.27am on Sunday 15 July 2018 a serious road traffic collision occurred on the A390 East Taphouse, Cornwall between a car and a motorcycle.

The collision occurred at the junction of the A390 and Highway in East Taphouse where a blue  Peugeot 307 driven by a 59-year-old female from Liskeard was exiting the highway and was in collision with a 57-year-old male motorcyclist from Plymouth who was heading towards Truro.

As a result of the collision, the male rider received serious life-changing injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital.

The road was closed for 4 and a half hours whilst an investigation of the scene took place. Any witnesses please ring 101 and quote 402 of the 15th July 2018.
