£250k worth of cannabis seized in N Devon

From Devon & Cornwall Police:

Police in North Devon have seized around £250,000 worth of cannabis following execution of a warrant in North Devon last Friday (10th February).

Acting on local intelligence, officers from the Force Support Group (FSG), along with support from the local policing team executed a warrant to search a farm north of Okehampton.

Police discovered an underground, purpose built cannabis factory and seized equipment and cannabis with a street value of around £250,000.

Two men have been interviewed and are assisting Police with their enquiries. One of these men, a 37-year-old from Hatherleigh was arrested on suspicion of producing a class-B drug and has been bailed until the 18th of May, pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Phil Gray at Barnstaple CID, said: “This is yet another positive example of where Police have intercepted and prevented a large amount of illegal drugs entering the public domain, off the back of local community intelligence.

“We will continue to use all means available to us to obtain and execute these types of warrants to stop the illegal supply of drugs into North Devon and surrounding areas. We continue to target those criminals that choose to target the vulnerable in our society and make money from them through drugs.”

If you have any information in relation to the cultivation of drugs, contact police on 101 or via 101@dc.police.uk. You can also pass on information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
