School Library Co-ordinator post. The job has arisen due to our current post holder moving into town library services. We are therefore taking this opportunity to create two new posts. These posts are required in our school to extend our library services beyond the school day and will provide flexible working hours for interested applicants. We have a vacancy for a library co-ordinator who wishes to either work mornings from 8.30am – 2pm or afternoons, 1.00pm to 6pm

At Budehaven Community School we know how important reading is and we want our students to read widely and to develop a love of reading. Our school is committed to helping our students to become knowledgeable and articulate young people. Our school library is key to enabling us to do this.

Budehaven School Library

The library is well resourced and is an asset to the school. Displays are maintained well and changed regularly to promote reading for pleasure and keep footfall high. Throughout the teaching day, and before and after school, the library is a quiet study space used by our Sixth Form pupils who are studying for their A levels and applied courses.  Many of our younger pupils visit the library at break and lunch times, in order to borrow books or use the computers. Teachers in the English department bring their classes down to the library at scheduled times to encourage pupils to select reading books appropriate to their reading confidence levels. The library has a strong history of offering extra-curricular reading opportunities to pupils, such as through the Kernow Youth Book Award scheme, or through events such as book sales and a themed event each year to celebrate World Book Day.

Our school

Budehaven is an oversubscribed comprehensive school located on the beautiful north Cornwall coast. We provide education to 1150 students from ages 11 to 19. We have a thriving Sixth Form, an Integrated Health Centre and community leisure centre. We are judged by Ofsted to be a good school (Ofsted, March 2017).

We offer a positive working and learning environment where kindness, respect, trust and ambition play a central role in our vision. We are ambitious for our students academically and for their development into curious young people, who go beyond their locality and look at the world in wonder, becoming thoughtful and productive members of society. We are looking for someone to join our school who shares this aspiration.

Applicants should complete the online Application Form making sure to complete the safeguarding question, and return to clare.brown@budehaven.cornwall.sch.uk  At Budehaven we are committed to the safeguarding of our students and the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

Yours sincerely,

Tracey Reynolds
